The term ‘wiki’ or ‘wiki-wiki’ is taken from a Hawaiian word that means is ‘quick’. According to the creator, Ward Cunningham, Wiki is the simplest online database that could possibly work.
The real thing is far from simple. Wiki is a piece of server software that allows user to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki support hyperlinks and has simple text syntax for creating new pages and cross link between internal pages easily. Wiki allows its contributor to edit other contributor content. And as the collaboration process is gaining more popularity these days, so is wiki
